• What do I need to wear to PT?
    • We will be assessing how well you move and may need to be able to inspect the area you are coming in for (i.e. shoulder, knee, etc.). Loose, comfortable clothing is ideal to allow us to best assess movement principles and assess the area that brings you to physical therapy.
    • What Should I Expect on My First Visit?
      • On your first visit a licensed physical therapist will go over your medical history and screen your injury/ailment. The physical therapist will take baseline measurements of your strength, flexibility, and mobility to better determine a personalized plan of care with you. Often a brief treatment will also be provided on the first visit, and a home exercise plan will be developed when appropriate.
    • How long do I need to come to PT?
      • After your evaluation, the therapist will discuss their findings with you and develop a plan of care that works for you to allow you to return to where it is you want to be.
    • How long does each PT visit take?
      • Typically most sessions last somewhere between 45-60 minutes, but that can vary based upon your condition.
    • Will my insurance cover physical therapy?
      • We take most all insurances. As a courtesy to our patients, we will contact your insurance company and verify your benefits based on your policy prior to your first visit. However, we do always encourage patients to do the same with their carrier to confirm their own benefit policies.
    • What if I don’t have insurance?
      • For patients who do not have insurance we do offer a cash pay rate. Please call the office for further information. 662-874-5964
    • Do you need to have a physician referral to attend physical therapy?
      • As of July 1, 2024 Mississippi is now a full direct access state. This means, NO you no longer must have a physician referral to see a Physical Therapist. However, some insurance carriers (i.e. Medicare, Tricare, Workers Compensation) may require you seeing a physician first in order for them to authorize physical therapy services. Please reach out to the office if you have any additional questions.
    • Is physical therapy painful?
      • At Huling Physical Therapy our goal is to reduce pain and functional limitations to restore you back to optimal level of function. Our licensed physical therapist staff will continuously check in to monitor your pain during each session to minimize unwarranted discomfort.
    • Is there paperwork I will need to complete prior to my first appointment?
      • Yes we do have some paperwork for new patients. It is available to print on our website here; or we can email you a direct link from our EMR software which does not require you to print any forms. Contact us at the clinic and we can assist you further.
